Overview
Received the the pre MD training in Radiation Oncology with work experience pediatric Oncology at RCC ,Thiruvananthapuram ,kerala ,from I988 to 1990. Gained experience in treating pediatric oncology cases during the period . Received the postgraduate degree in Radiation oncology from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in 1991. Joined the KMC Mangalore Hospital in 1992 since it’s inception, following a one year Senior Registrar program at Tamilnad Hospital, Perambakkam, Chennai, equipped with a high energy LINAC and an HDR brachytherapy unit. Served KMC Mangalore, Oncology department for 10 years treating both pediatric and adult oncology cases with chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Served as Professor ,Radiation Oncology department Academy of Medical Science ,Pariyaram kannur from 2001 to 2003 .
Joined the Amrita Institute of Medical Science,Radiation oncology department as professor and served the institute for 13 years till 2016.Received training in modern radiation technology from UK( Royal Hospital,Preston) and Loyola university, Chicago and New York University Medical Centre in an observership program during the period.
Initiated the DNB and MD Radiation oncology course at AIMS ,Cochin, during the tenure and guided many students in their MD and PhD research programs.
Joined MVR Cancer Centre and Research Institute at Calicut in 2016 to set up the Radiation oncology department’s Linear accelerator and HDR Brachytherapy services. Initiated the 1 year Postgraduate fellowship program in Radiation oncology at the centre. Was instrumental in initiating a collaboration with NITC Calicut for various translational research activities involving AI/ML(ARGOS study with Maastricht university ,Netherlands) and 3D printing of specialized brachytherapy applicators .
Joined the Zulekha institute of Oncology ,Yenepoya Medical College Hospital set up with support from the Tata Trust in February 2023 with a vision to spearhead the PG studies in Radiation oncology and the related research activities.
