Nuclear Medicine is a branch of Medicine, which deals with the application of radioisotopes in the diagnosis and treatment of various disease states. The diagnostic procedures are done as an Outpatient procedure. Some of the therapeutic procedures need admission.
As far as the radiation safety , there is nothing to worry as the radiation delivered to the patient for diagnostic procedures are comparable to Radiology, in fact much less than that in most of the diagnostic procedures.
