The da Vinci Robot, which could be considered the next step in surgery, is a multi-limbed surgical robot with small wrists that can bend in any direction and give greater precision, dexterity, and delicate manipulation than the human hand. While seated in front of a computer console with a 3D video screen and controls, the surgeon performs minimally invasive procedures by manipulating three robotic arms and a video camera that are placed through tiny skin incisions.
